Course Description:
Vodou is often a very misunderstood and demonised religion. This course, created by a long serving Senior Priest of the Night of Africa society, explores Vodou’s foundational characteristics and thus offer students the opportunity to acquire a better understanding of the subject and form a more informed view. This short introductory course covers subjects such as; the history and development of the religion, basic beliefs, the priesthood and what a typical Vodou ceremony comprises.
By the end of this course, student will:
Understand how Vodou came about.
Learn about Vodou beliefs including the divine Creator, the Lwa's and the importance of serving the Ancestor spirits.
Know the different levels of initiation in the Vodou priesthood and their basic functions.
Understand the basic format of a typical ceremony and what takes place at each point.

Assessment & Certificate:
This course has been graded as having a 'light' coursework load. Which equates to 0 - 1 hours of additional, independent work. Students will be required to submit coursework in the form of: course evaluation surveys, research tasks and short written assignments in addition to practical exercises to help them master essential magickal techniques.
There are no deadlines for turning in coursework and students are free to work through each module at their own time and pace. A certificate of completion can be accessed in the final module, which can then be downloaded and printed.
